Recently Clark & Leatherwood received the LEED Gold Level Certification, the highest certification ever awarded by North Carolina HealthyBuilt Homes, for its construction of the home for Dave and Jean Walters with D & J Properties (owner and developer) at 4900 Preserve Road, Balsam Mountain Preserve in Sylva, North Carolina. The LEED rating system, developed by the U.S. Green Building Council, promotes a whole-building approach to sustainability by recognizing performance in five key areas of human and environmental health: sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection and indoor environmental quality.
